10 Craft Ideas To Do With Starfish Coloring Pages

Here are 10 low-cost, fun, and creative craft ideas you can do with your completed coloring page!

10. Button Starfish

For a fun craft that you can do with your kids or classroom, you can use one of my starfish pictures as your blank slate.

You’ll also need a variety of buttons in every shape, size, and color.

Then, you’ll get your kids glue – Elmer’s is really the best for this situation – and have them glue the buttons onto the starfish, staying within the lines.

They can get fanciful and just dot the starfish outline sporadically, or if they have a more artistic vision, they can be selective about which colors and button sizes they choose.

Either way, it’s a good opportunity for them to be creative and thoughtful.

9. Suncatchers

To make suncatchers out of my starfish pictures, you will print out the starfish template you want to use onto transparency paper (which you can find at the office supplies store or online).

Then, you’ll need tissue paper in a variety of colors; you and your kids can cut out pieces and paste them onto the transparency paper.

No worries about staying in the lines – you’re going to cut out the starfish along the outline anyway!

Then, poke a hole near the top and push some string through. Tie it off, and you have a loop to hang your suncatcher with (in a sunny window, if possible!).

8. Beach-Wear Starfish

For this cute little activity, you’ll instruct your kids to draw on beach wear to a starfish of choice.

This can be a bikini and sunglasses for one, or swim trunks and a tank top for another.

Can starfish wear flip-flops? I bet they can if your kids really want them to! They can also hold buckets and shovels, a glass of lemonade, or a beach ball!

7. Cheerios (Or Fruit Loops) Starfish

For this craft, you will need a box of Cheerios, or if you’re feeling colorful, Fruit Loops, as well as glue.

You’ll instruct your kids to glue the cereal onto the picture, staying within the lines.

They can dot the page sporadically with the cereal, or for a more realistic look, line up Cheerios by twos in each arm.

6. Seashell Starfish

For this craft, you will need seashells – whether they’re sourced from your latest trip to the beach or a craft store is totally up to you!

You’ll shade in the starfish of your choice as much or as little as you like and then artfully arrange the shells around it.

Glue them down and wait for the glue to dry completely before attempting to pick up the page.

You can then put the page in a frame – sans glass – and set it up on a table or counter to remind yourself that life’s a beach!

5. Washi Tape Starfish

This craft is so easy and so cute – your kids will love it!

You just need rolls of washi tape, which you can find at your local craft store, Walmart, or other big box store or online.

Print out the starfish you want to use and have your kids cover the outline with washi tape. They can use just one pattern or multiple.

Then, they’ll cut out along the still visible outline. The effect is a super adorable, super colorful starfish with totally clean lines.

4. Coastal Coasters

You can also use my starfish pictures to make coastal coasters that would look great in a sunporch or RV (preferably parked near a beach).

You’ll likely have to resize the starfish to fit the coaster; do that and print out as many coasters as you’re making.

Get ceramic squares from your crafting store, and you’ll Mod Podge the starfish to the ceramic. Apply at least a few coats.

Wait for the Mod Podge to dry, and then you have water-sealed décor perfect for setting glasses of lemonade or iced tea on.

3. Beach Glass Craft

Nothing says “beach” quite like starfish and beach glass – so combine them!

You’ll need a pretty hefty stash of beach glass, which you’re going to glue down onto the starfish picture of your choice, staying within the lines.

Once you’ve filled it in, wait for the glue to dry completely before framing the picture.

2. Beachy Hair Accessories

Turn my starfish pictures into cute headbands or barrettes in just a few steps.

You’ll print out the starfish you want to use onto shrink sheets; have your kids color them in with marker and cut them out.

Bake per the instructions and let cool.

Once they’ve cooled, you can hot glue them to plain plastic or metal headbands or barrette backs. Add ribbon or lace, or embellish the starfish with glitter or sequins for a snazzy touch!

1. Starfish Bead Hanging

To make this starfish bead hanging, you’ll print out the starfish of choice onto cardstock, which is heavier and sturdier than regular computer paper.

You can have your kids decorate the starfish however they like, then cut it out and poke a little hole near the top.

Then they’ll punch three or four holes in the bottom.

Take equal lengths of yarn and tie them off into the holes, then string beads onto the yarn. Make a knot at the bottom so the beads don’t fall off.

Finally, you’ll use a length of yarn to tie a loop in the hole near the top of the starfish – this will give you something to hang the craft by.
