Access to the Second Memory of Hirata Estate

To access this second memory, collect all the ingredients necessary to prepare incense for Kuro and then go to Ashina Castle. In the dialogue with The Owl, choose to remain loyal to Kuro and then eliminate the Shinobi. After that, go to Kuro’s room and eavesdrop on him a first time (picture1). Once this is done, go talk to him and rest at the idol before eavesdropping on him a second time (picture2).

Rest again, and then go up the stairs to find Emma, during the dialogue with her, agree to find a solution to save the young master (picture3). Then you will have to go to the Sculptor’s Idol of the Old Grave and join Emma near the tomb on the left (picture4).

At the end of the dialogue, go to the Dilapidated Temple and walk behind the building to eavesdrop on the conversation between the Sculptor and Emma (picture5). You can then talk to the young woman and convince her to reveal what she knows to you in order to obtain the Father’s Bell Charm (picture6). All you have to do is to interact with the Buddha statue in the room to reach this new memory (picture7).

When you arrive at Hirata Estate, climb the stairs to immediately meet a new Mini-Boss (picture8).

Mini-Boss – Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer

The real difficulty of this fight will come from the fact that your opponent will be able to summon dogs at will. To solve this problem, it will be necessary to be particularly aggressive in order to prevent him from whistling. In this perspective, shurikens will be effective. For the rest, defeating Masanaga will require a lot of concentration, especially to counter his kicks, which he will use as much as thrust attacks than as sweep attacks. After your victory, you get a Prayer Bead and an Adamantite Scrap.

Once the mini-boss is eliminated, move to the left and recover the Fulminated Mercury on the ground (picture9). After that, eliminate the nearest archer and attract the first sumo in your direction (picture10).

After getting rid of them, go towards the rest of the enemies and eliminate them, or simply avoid them, before going to commune with the Sculptor’s Idol on the right (pictures11-12).

From this idol, cross the nearby rubble and pass under the floor on the right to reach the other side of the building (pictures13-14). Once there, move slightly to the left and look up, then use the Finger Whistle to attract the ninjas one by one before eliminating them (picture15).

When you have succeeded, get rid of the bandits, and then climb on the roof on the left to recover a new Adamantite Scrap (picture16). Once you have done this, go down and move towards the pond, then cling to the rock to listen to the conversation between Juzo and the Shinobi (picture17).

At the end of this dialogue, go to the left and clean the building to get a Light Coin Purse and some Ashina Sake (pictures18-19). You will then have to progress until you reach the back of the mini-boss; here, neutralize the nearest bandit and then attract the ninja to get rid of him while being away from the mini-boss (picture20). Once the area is clear, you can consider taking care of Juzo.

Mini-Boss – Juzo the Drunkard

This new fight against Juzo is very similar to your first confrontation in the previous memory, with the only difference that you will have to face him alone here. So start by approaching discreetly and give him a critical blow. Following this, you will have to deflect his heavy but slow attacks while carefully dodging his sweepings and body grabs. Also be careful with its poisonous jets, which can easily force you to take a step back in order to swallow an antidote. After Juzo’s death, you get a Prayer Bead.

Once Juzo is dead, retrieve the Adamantite Scrap on the tree and enter the house (picture21). Here, turn left and neutralize the monk in the corridor (picture22).

Continue in this direction and collect the Fulminated Mercury near the dead end (picture23). Then pass through the sliding doors and take care of the two archers in the room on the right (pictures24-25).

At the end of the confrontation, join the Sculptor’s Idol and cross the corridor; you will then have to fight your Foster Father (pictures26-27).

Fight against The Owl (Foster Father)

If the great Shinobi was a formidable opponent in his old age, this younger version will be able to give you nightmares. In the first phase of the fight, be very aggressive and try to stay within his reach as much as possible, this way you can prevent him from triggering some of his unblockable attacks while inflicting him damage. You will then have to learn to recognize his various firecracker attacks. If he hits you with a shoulder before throwing his powder, move back sharply to avoid the subsequent slashing attack. During this time, you can take the opportunity to heal yourself or restore your posture. If the Owl throws his powder without a combo, he will probably inflict a violent attack on you, so step back a few meters and pay attention to the sound indicators that will allow you to use a Mikiri Counter on it.

In the second part of the battle, the Owl will use a spectral pet that will mainly allow him to disappear and then teleport to your position. The rest of the time, this illusion will only interfere with your field of vision, so you don’t really have to worry about it. Thereafter, the Shinobi will use roughly the same techniques as before, which will allow you to use the counter-attacks learned in the first phase to fight effectively. Finally, if the Owl calls back its pet before surrounding himself with flames, move back quickly and prepare to jump left or right to dodge the torrent of fire. Immediately after this attack, your opponent will do a thrust attack towards you, so be ready to use a Mikiri Counter to inflict heavy damage. At the end of this confrontation, you get the Memory: Foster Father as well as the Aromatic Flower.
