Late in the evening of May 7th 2024, but only after a quiet family prayer and a brief Mötley Crüe jam session, Timothy Dennis Meyer slipped peacefully away from this world and into his Maker’s arms. Remarkably tall (6’ 6”) and large in stature, Tim has left behind an equally sized hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
Tim was born on October 2, 1970 in Shakopee, MN to proud parents Dennis and Sandra (Lundeen) Meyer. He was their “Golden Boy” and a loyal protector to his little sister, Robyn. Tim was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. As a child he was instinctively drawn to farming and would create elaborate farmscapes with toy tractors, fields, and barns in the basem*nt of his family home. He always looked forward to trips to the farm where he could be found riding along on the tractor with his Grandpa Clayton.
Tim’s height did not go wasted and his family spent many nights and weekends in the bleachers, cheering for him on the basketball court. A wise introvert who could not easily be persuaded, Tim once earned $10 from his mom for attending a school dance that he had no desire to attend. Keeping his end of the deal, he walked in the door, stepped foot in the gym…and promptly turned around and left. Tim was smart AND true to his word.
He put that brain to work at UMD where he earned his Engineering degree in 1994 and in his career at Benchmark Electronics where he was just days away from celebrating 30 years of loyal employment. It was that career that brought him to Winona, MN and eventually to his wife of 20 years, Stacy.
The two were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minneiska, MN on a cold December day in 2003. Shortly before Stacy walked up the aisle a bat flew into the church and caused such commotion during the ceremony that guests ducked and shrieked throughout. Never wanting to be in the spotlight, the bride and groom enjoyed the distraction and happily shared their vows in (near) privacy until the ceremony ended and the bat landed at Tim’s feet.
He and Stacy enjoyed a wonderful marriage filled with shared hobbies (hunting, fishing and being outside), mutual interests, occasional adventures and never any more words than needed to be said. He was a thoughtful husband who always put his wife before himself.
That selflessness was a theme in his most prized role: father.
In 2006, Tim and Stacy welcomed twin boys into their home and life was never the same. Christian and Clayton, who were adopted from Russia, brought unmistakable joy and chaos into Tim’s life. He spent countless hours fishing, hunting, and boating with his boys. They loved to look for deer sheds together and enjoyed rides on the tractor, the pontoon and the four wheeler. As a family they made memories camping and working on their land and spending as much time together as possible. The four of them filled up each other’s lives.
Tim is survived by his wife Stacy (Bronk) Meyer of Kellogg, MN and sons Clayton and Christian; parents Dennis and Sandra Meyer of Hutchinson, MN; sister Robyn (Barclay) Klinker of Hutchinson, MN; Parents In-law Tom and Diane Bronk; Sisters In-law Sarah Bronk and Tammy (Kurt) Hoeger and 10 nieces and nephews: Jordan, Riley, Dylan and Madelyn Klinker; Mary, Ella, James, Ruby, Sam and Jo Hoeger. He is also survived by his godparents, Fern Fleagle and Clayton Byron Lundeen.
Tim was preceded in death by Grandparents Merrill and Olive Meyer and Clayton and Elaine Lundeen.
He loved Diet Mountain Dew and Bud Light. He had a fantastic smirk, a great memory, perfectly timed wisecracks and he once sported a heck of a mullet. He enjoyed his dogs, spending time in his shed, bonfires and the outdoors. He didn’t like to be far from home or from his people.
He was a jack of all trades, a patient father and a fiercely loyal husband.
He was our Golden Boy. He was our Gentle Giant. And he will be missed beyond measure.
Timothy Meyer, 53, of Kellogg died, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. There will also be visitation from 4-7 p.m., on Tuesday at Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview where casual attire is preferred and gray and camouflage are encouraged in memory of Tim.
